A team of South Yorkshire Police detectives travelled to Greece seeking to leverage new findings in order to unlock a new cycle of research about Ben Needham, the toddler from Sheffield who went missing in the Greek island of Kos in 1999.
Ben_NikolouliBen’s mother Kerry Needham, his grandmother Christine, and his sister Leighanna, along with the Detective Superintendent Matthew Fenwick, Detective Inspector Jon Cousins and English journalist Mark Witty took part in the three-hour TV show “Light in the Tunnel” on Friday, May 15.
Speaking on the show that broadcasts to around 50% of the Greek TV audience hosted by Angeliki Nikolouli, Ben’s mother said: “Please end the pain that my family is suffering. I know he’s out there somewhere. Please call the police and please put an end to this.”
The British officers recognizing the contribution of journalist Angeliki Nikolouli during the long-standing investigation process requested to make an appeal on Greek television in order to inform the Greek audience about the latest clues for Ben’s case and to announce that there is a reward of ten thousand English pounds for anyone who will give a credible testimony.
Many calls and e-mails have been received so far, including a man who came forward to say he resembles the missing boy and will be DNA-tested.
