Greek Shipowners on Lloyd's '100 Most Influential People' List

tanker-plagiaThirteen Greek shipowners are featured in LLoyd’s list of the “100 Most Influential People in Shipping” for 2014.
Greek shipping is on top again as the Greek-owned fleet is the largest in the world in gross tonnage, ahead of China and Japan.
Greece comes first in number of tankers (1,217), second in dry bulk cargo ships (1,878) and second in ships carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG). The Greek-owned fleet numbers a total of 4,894 ships.
Shipowner John Angelicoussis is in fourth place in Lloyd’s list. The Greek shipowner has a fleet of 97 ships with a total tonnage of 19.5 tonnes.
Second Greek on the list is Petros Pappas in 11th place, Angeliki Frangou in 15th, Giorgos Economou in 16th place, Petros Livanos ranks 21st, Giorgos Prokopiou in 25th place, Theodoros Veniamis in 48th, Konstantinos Konstantakopoulos in 50th, Nikolaos Tsakos ranks 54th, Evangelos Marinakis in 67th, Symeon Palios in 81st place, Peter Georgiopoulos in 83rd, Yiannis Platsidakis in 86th and Dimitris Melissanidis in 97th place.
According to the Lloyd’s list, the most influential shipowner in the world is Xi Jinping, President of China.
