Ally Ioannides Cast in Recurring Role on NBC’s ‘Parenthood’

Ally Ioannides plays the role of Dylan Jones on NBC’s “Parenthood.”

Budding young actress Ally Ioannides has joined the cast of the NBC series “Parenthood” in a recurring role.

The 16-year-old Greek-American beauty has appeared in five episodes so far as Dylan Jones, who was introduced on the show as a new student at Chambers Academy. Onto her fourth school and telling people she has “ADHD and general behavioral issues,” Jones managed to steal the heart of fellow student Max Braverman (played by Max Burkholder).

During a chat with Greek Reporter, Ioannides told us that getting the role was “surreal.”

“I still can’t believe I’m part of the cast,” she said. I found out I got the part at a friend’s house and I just started freaking out. I remember at one point [my friend] said, ‘Ally, you haven’t stopped smiling for, like, two hours.'”

Saying it took about three weeks to find out that she landed the part after auditioning twice, Ioannides was really nervous during the entire process. She had a preliminary read and then a callback/chemistry read with Burkholder, as director Peter Krause and executive producer Lawrence Trilling looked on.

“Going into the first audition, I was already so in love with this complex, cool character and really wanted to portray Dylan,” Ioannides said.

And now that she plays Dylan, what’s her favorite part about being on the show?

“Working on-set is amazing. The cast and crew are so supportive, kind, and it’s a really friendly work environment. I think my favorite part would have to be working with all the actors. I work mostly with Max and Monica [Potter]. They are both such skilled actors, and just really good people. I’ve learned so much from them and it’s really fascinating to see them work!,” adding, “Also, the food is really good…”

Ioannides started her career in theater at 11-years-old and transitioned into film and television shortly after. For the moment, she plans to continue her work on “Parenthood” while also focusing on school.
