NBA Draft 2014: Thanassis Antetokounmpo picked by the New York Knicks

A few minutes ago, the older brother of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanassis (Θανάσσης Αντετοκούνμπο), was selected as the 51st overall draft pick by the famous New York Knicks. The Knicks, who struggled last season, are focusing on rebuilding a new team, possibly letting go of their star player Carmelo Anthony.
Thanassis, who played for Filathlitikos of Zografou in Athens, alongside his two brothers Giannis and Kostas, spent the last season as a member of Delaware 87’s averaging 12.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.2 steals and 1.3 blocks.
As soon as Thanassis’ name was called, delighted fans cheered as a result of the amazing year his brother Yannis had with the Milwaukee Bucks. Most experts are expecting similar prospect from the 6’7″, 22 year old shooting guard.
The Nigerian descended talent who was born and raised in Athens made the all defensive 3rd team in the D league were the 87’s participated and according to the first tweets, is anticipated to spend much of his free time with the Greeks of Astoria.
