According to the popular Canadian newspaper, Toronto Star, the Acropolis Museum restaurant is among the top 5 museum restaurants throughout the world.
The newspaper in an article entitled “Museum restaurants: Top 5 places to eat” ranks Acropolis Museum restaurant among the Modern Art (MOMA)in New York (2nd place) and the Musée d’Orsay (1st place) in Paris. The article notes that the restaurant which is placed 5th on the list, is a convenient destination after exploring Acropolis, seeing as it’s located only 300 meters (984 feet) from the monument, on the pedestrian walkway of Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, which is the main route for exploring Athens‘ archaeological sites. It is also noted that the restaurant offers a panoramic view of the Sacred Rock of the Acropolis, which visitors can admire during the night as the restaurant stays open until midnight.
Collections Cafe at Chihuly Garden and Glass, in Seattle is placed third on the list and the Ray’s and Stark Bar at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is placed fourth.
The Acropolis Museum was founded in 2003 and hosts 4,000 objects in an area of 14,000 square metres. It was built to house every artifact found on the rock from the Greek Bronze Period to Roman and Byzantine Greece.
