For the third year in a row, citing the economic crisis and with protests ongoing, the Greek government said there will no celebration to mark the Restoration of Democracy, what used to be an annual event but is now fading from memory.
The gardens of the Presidential Mansion will remain closed in 2013 during the anniversary of the Restoration of Democracy.
Before the crisis, the event used to be a glamorous fest but has now been replaced by a modest morning ceremony with the public barred. President Karolos Papoulias will make a statement and lay a wreath at Eleftheria Park and that will be that.
