First Woman Heads Greek Naval Academy

naftikon dokA woman will take over the administration of the Hellenic Naval Academy (HNA) in Piraeus, Greece for the first time in the Academy’s history.
She is a Cypriot cadet with a battle group specialty, who will overcome the impassable of HNA’s 150-year history and will undertake leadership.
The former Head of the Academy and new current flag-bearer of the Hellenic Navy delivered the Academy’s flag to his successor Head of Cadets of third order, while the Minister for National Defense, Dimitris Avramopoulos, delivered the sword to her and to her 65 colleagues.
After the first woman officer (Lieutenant-commander) with a nurse specialty, who took over as adjutant to the Deputy Minister for National Defense Fofi Gennimata, the Hellenic Navy has overcome the impassable once again.
