Greek-French director Romain-Gavras is the man behind the new Dior Homme videos featuring Robert Pattinson.
The film and music video director, known for his work with Kanye West, Jay Z, and M.I.A., is shooting the brand’s overseas ads with the “Twilight” star. Gavras says the videos are inspired by James Dean and his quote, “Dream as if you will live forever. Live as if you will die today.”
The steamy Dior Homme campaign is also being photographed by American artist Nan Goldin, and currently scheduled to broadcast only in Europe (except UK) and Asia (except China and Japan).
Gavras was born in Athens, Greece and is the son of famed filmmaker Costa-Gavras. He won two Video Music Awards in 2012 for Best Cinematography and Best Direction for his work on M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls” video. He directed the video doc, “A Cross the Universe,” the short “Born Free,” and the 2010 feature “Our Day Will Come.” He is also the cousin of award winning filmmaker Penelope Spheeris.
