Harris Savides Passes Away at 55

Harris Savides, a renowned fashion photographer and cinematographer, passed away today at the age of 55.

The NYC born and bred Greek-Cypriot became well known for his high-fashion photography that caught the attention of Hollywood, where he went on to eventually work as a respected DP. Some of the directors he collaborated with include David Fincher on “The Game” and “Zodiac,” Noah Baumbach on “Margot at the Wedding” and “Greenberg,” Sofia Coppola on “Somewhere” and his last project before his passing, “The Bling Ring,” out next year. He also frequently teamed up with Gus Van Sant, getting behind the lens on “Gerry,” “Elephant,” “Last Days” and “Milk,” which all garnered him Independent Spirit Award nominations. The talented cinematographer also helmed music videos for Madonna, Fiona Apple and R.E.M.

The details of Savides’ death are unknown. He is survived by his wife, Medine, and daughter, Sophie.
