Minister of Public Order and Citizen Protection Nikos Dendias and Deputy Minister of Interior Charalambos Athanasiou have decided that the Special Identity Card for Aliens of Hellenic Descent and its holders, mostly coming from Northern Epirus, will be permanently valid and not have to be renewed every 10 years.
The decision ends the bureaucratic problems the card holders faced at renewal timer and means they can stay in Greece indefinitely and make it easier for them to obtain Greek citizenship. The ministers are planning to sign a joint ministerial decision in the immediate future.
