American Community School of Athens Offers Scholarships to Basketball Players

The American Community School of Athens announced its annual program of the Academic-Athletic Scholarships for basketball players for the 2012-2013 school year.
These scholarships (“Hasib Sabbagh & Diana Tamari Sabbagh”) are intended for new ACS Athens students entering 10th Grade and will cover a maximum of three years of tuition in ACS Athens.  The scholarships will be awarded to four students – two boys and two girls. The deadline for applying is May 31.
The scholarships will be given to the four students on several criteria. Of great importance is students’ high academic performance during the past two years. The ACS of Athens is also paying close attention to their basketball skills and sportsmanship. This means that coach recommendations will be an important advantage for the applicants, in case they are members of a basketball team.
Willingness to participate in school team training sessions and games during the basketball season, as well as the applicants’ personality will be taken into consideration. A proven good level of English language and need of financial assistance (as indicated by Greek tax authorities) are also among the criteria.
As soon as ACS officials receive the application forms, the students will give an interview in order to prove their skills in person. Applicants are also asked to send two letters of recommendation and an introductory letter on the reasons they are asking for a scholarship.
