Alexandra Asimaki was named top female water polo athlete by the World Aquatic Sports Federation (FINA) for 2011. Asimaki was part of the Greek national team awarded the Gold Medal at the 14th FINA World Championship which took place in Shanghai in July 2011.
Centre forward Asimaki has received numerous titles throughout 2011, such as Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2011 World Championship and also Best Polo Athlete by LEN, the European Aquatic Sports Federation in October 2011.
Born in 1988, Asimaki plays with the Vouliagmeni water polo team and is also studying law.
