Minister of Culture and Tourism in Greece, Paulos Yeroulanos and Chairman and Executive Producer of the American J. Paul Getty Museum, James Gun have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding that concerns intensive strengthening of scientific research, promotion of Greek cultural heritage, and commitment to the prevention of illicit trafficking in antiquities.
Both parties have decided to return two antiquities of importance to Greece, a decision functioning as direct evidence of the changes in the relations between Ministry of Culture and the Getty Museum.
The antiquities that are going to be brought back to Greece include a tomb sculpture and an inscribed column.
The Getty and Ministry of Culture are discussing the potential borrowing of a Greek epigraph for the Museum.
