First Alaskan Greek Orthodox Church Constructed this Summer

For the first time in the history of  Greeks in Alaska, this summer the Orthodox community will have its own church in Anchorage, the biggest city in the state.

The Byzantine style church, which is dedicated to the Trasfiguration of Christ,  will cover the spiritual needs not only of Greeks, but also Orthodox worshipers from  other countries that live in the area. It will be constructed with donations by the faithful and the local festival.

According to priest Lio Shefe, the church is the meeting point that keeps together  Orthodox followers from all over the globe.
