Aegean Team Meets with Greek Diaspora Regarding Humanitarian, Community & Environmental Efforts

With great interest, members of Greek Diaspora organizations welcomed and heard members of the Aegean Team.  The Aegean Team presented humanitarian, community and environmental efforts of the organization in the remote, isolated islands of the Aegean.
In Washington, D.C. and New York, five members of the organization’s Board of Directors met with leaders of Greek Diaspora organizations, scientists and entrepreneurs.  All involved are willing to support their mission which is of national importance, as mentioned during their meetings.
President of the Organization Apostolos Biliris presented the priorities and goals of the team.  These included the purchase of a Mobile Digital Mammography Unit for the conduction of mammograms during their crossing through the islands of the Aegean and for their two to three day visits to islands, mountainous and remote areas.
The events were organized by the Greek Medical Association of New York in collaboration with Association “Prometheus” in Washington, the Federation of Greek American Societies of Greater New York and the “Hellenic Association. Apart from the President, doctors George Plakogiannis, Savvas Kazanas, Ioldi Chatzigianni and Paraskevas Kontoes also participated in the Team’s delegation.
The team is a civil non-profit organization and has operated for more than 15 years in small and remote islands of the Aegean.  It is a voluntary effort and is in collaboration with local authorities and medical associations, social and medical services.
