Daniel Craig, the famous English actor who has endeared himself to audiences around the world as the new James Bond, is expected to come to Greece in June this summer to participate in the filming of the sequel of the movie ”Knives Out.”

The crew of the production of the film is expected to be in Greece’s Porto Heli, a famous resort town of southern Greece, in May.

Craig will be there in June and the production of the film is expected to finish their shooting in Greece by July or August of 2021.

The English actor is also expected to visit the iconic island of Spetses, in addition to Porto Heli.

The original film ”Knives Out” was a 2019 mystery set in America, written and directed by Rian Johnson, and produced by Johnson and Ram Bergman.

Its main story follows a master detective who investigates the death of the patriarch of a wealthy – and rather spectacularly dysfunctional – family.

The many-layered, cleverly-written film featured an ensemble cast including Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Don Johnson, Toni Collette, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer.

Sequel to Daniel Craig’s Film in Greece

On March 31, 2021, it was reported by many international media that Netflix had bought the rights to two additional ”Knives Out” sequels for a stunning amount of over $400 million.

It was also confirmed that filming will begin on June 28, 2021, in Greece.

The main setting for the first sequel will be Porto Heli (also spelled as Porto Cheli).

The town of Porto Heli is a popular summer resort town in the municipality of Ermionis in the southeastern part of Argolis, in the Peloponnesian peninsula of Greece.

It is situated on a beautifully shaped bay of the Argolic Gulf, six kilometers (four miles) south of the town of Kranidi and 40 kilometers (25 miles) southeast of Nafplio.

The island of Spetses is located south of Porto Heli.

There are ferry connections from Porto Heli to the islands of Spetses, Hydra, and Poros, and to Ermioni and Piraeus.  There is also a small private airport, Porto Cheli Airport, south of the town.

Greece to become a film production hub

Up to eighteen international movies will be shot in Greece in 2021, confirming the industry’s demand for the country’s nearly endless variety of stunning landscapes and monuments.

The director of the Hellenic Cinema Center, Venia Vergou, said orecently that the expected revenues from foreign productions in 2021 could reach 90 million euros ($106 million).

She added that this foreign interest creates a “positive domino effect” that will help attract further productions.
