A tragic incident took place in Hollywood, FL, on Wednesday when a small plane crashed, resulting in the death of one person who was on board.

The crash happened close to the 450 block of North Park Road, near a Target parking lot, and not too far away from Memorial Regional Hospital.

As per the video footage posted on social media, the yellow plane crashed and caught fire on the street, creating thick black smoke that rose into the air.

The city of Hollywood’s officials confirmed that the fire rescue crews rushed to the scene and discovered the plane engulfed in flames. Aerial footage showed the burnt remains of the plane being sprayed with foam by the fire rescue teams.

Although the fire was put out, the authorities believe that the person who was on board the plane lost his life in the crash.

‘Low-flying plane carrying a banner’

Ralph Rayburn, a reporter from 7 Sky Force HD, said that he and his team witnessed the plane crashing incident while returning to the airport. They spotted a low-flying plane carrying a banner behind it.

During that time, they heard an emergency call on the radio, indicating that the pilot was experiencing some issues. Shortly after, they observed the plane releasing the banner it was towing and struggling with its controls, resulting in a leftward bank and a subsequent crash into the ground.

Upon arriving at the scene, which took less than a minute, Rayburn and his team witnessed the plane already engulfed in flames. The Hollywood Fire Department and police swiftly arrived and cordoned off the area.

Initially, water was used to combat the fire, but due to the presence of fuel on the ground, it proved challenging to extinguish. Consequently, the firefighters switched to using foam, which was more effective in tackling stubborn flames.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation or information from the fire department regarding the incident. The police have advised the residents to stay away from the scene.

‘Flames were way too hot to get much closer’

A live witness of the plane crash took to Twitter and shared a video capturing the harrowing scene. In the footage, the flames from the crashed plane can be seen towering high.

The witness expressed shock and disbelief, mentioning that he had just grabbed his smoothie and was leaving when the unexpected incident occurred.

The intensity of the flames prevented him from approaching any closer. The witness stated that the video was recorded mere seconds before the arrival of the first responders to the scene.
