Giannis Antetokounmpo Scores 50 Points in Bucks Win

Giannis Antetokounmpo had 50 points and 13 rebounds and the host Milwaukee Bucks rolled to a 135-110 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night.

He shot 20 of 26 from the floor, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and went 7 of 12 on free throw attempts.

The Bucks never trailed and won their fourth straight as they opened a four-game homestand. They also reached the 130-point mark for the fifth time in their last seven games.

Antetokounmpo collected 29 points and 10 rebounds in the first half alone, helping the Bucks build a big lead early. This was Antetokounmpo’s 10th game this season with at least 40 points, tying the career high for 40-point games that he set last season.

His 50 points were five off the career high he set on Jan. 4 in a 123-113 victory over the Washington Wizards. Antetokounmpo’s previous career high was a 52-point effort against the Philadelphia 76ers on March 17, 2019.

Antetokounmpo named team captain for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game

On Thursday the Greek Freak was named a team captain and starter for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game.

This marks the seventh consecutive season that he has been voted an All-Star Game starter and third time he has been selected as a team captain. With his seventh All-Star selection, Antetokounmpo passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the most All-Star selections in franchise history.

In his 10th NBA season, Antetokounmpo is averaging a career-high 31.0 points (T-3rd in NBA), 12.0 rebounds (2nd in NBA) and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 52.6% from the field.
