Twenty-five years after its debut, the epic romance film Titanic is to make its comeback in 3D. The announcement came upon the heels of director James Cameron’s release of the sequel to his film Avatar. Avatar is another of the movie mogul’s Hollywood movie blockbusters.

Fans of the star-crossed lovers will get the chance to revisit their favorite love story on February 10th just in time for Valentine’s Day. This version will be in 3D 4KL HDR. It will also have a high frame rate, allowing viewers a cleaner and smoother viewing experience.

The remake of one of Hollywood’s greatest love stories

The semi-fictitious film is based on the sinking of the RMS Titanic during its maiden voyage in 1912. The historical aspects of the ocean liner’s tragic course is intertwined with such issues as class and forbidden love.

Such tales are timeless, making it easy for Cameron to bring it back to the big screen. The director of some of the movie industry’s biggest earning films can also rest assured of bringing in worldwide audiences given the perfect timing of its release. It will also reignite a new and interesting debate surrounding the question fans of Titanic have been wondering: “Could Jack fit on the door?”

The original was the first ever Hollywood production to reach the billion dollar mark. Furthermore, its first re-release in 3D in 2012 garnered it $343.6 million as well. In total, it generated almost $2.2 billion in revenue and was the second highest earner after Avatar ($2.97 billion). Cameron’s most recent release was Avatar: The Way of the Water, which raked in approximately $1.19 billion.

A tragic tale that still haunts

Everyone knows the tragic tale of the White Star Line cruise ship that sank into the icy waters of the Atlantic after hitting an iceberg on its way to New York City from South Hampton, England. It was one of the most luxurious of its time—a revolutionary prototype for ocean liners to come.

A swimming pool, gym, reading library, and 5-star restaurants were just a few of the amenities available to some of the world’s wealthiest passengers aboard the ship. Thousands more searching for a new life on a new continent joined them on the deadly journey.

The story of Rose and Jack is played by a startlingly young Leonardo DiCaprio and the stunning Kate Winslet. They are two people from completely different classes who meet and fall in love despite their differences and the inevitable tragedy to which that love would lead.

A quarter of a century and eleven Academy Awards later, Titanic is still one of the most beloved films in cinematic history. It is truly a silver screen saga set to seduce its aficionado’s again and again.
