Jennifer Aniston opened up about her failed attempts to get pregnant, saying she has “zero regrets” about a difficult period in her life in an exclusive interview with Allure magazine.

“I was trying to get pregnant,” says Aniston, of a period several years ago. “It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road.”

“All the years and years and years of speculation…It was really hard,” she told journalist Danielle Pergament. “I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it. I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”

Adding to the personal pain of what she went through was the “narrative that I was just selfish,” she says.

“I just cared about my career,” she told Allure. “And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child. And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid. It was absolute lies. I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”

Aniston talked about her divorce from Justin Theroux in 2018 and addressed speculation that the pair broke up because she “wouldn’t give him a kid.”

“It was absolute lies,” she said. “I don’t have anything to hide at this point.”

Pergament asked Aniston whether she would get married again.

“Never say never, but I don’t have any interest,” she said. “I’d love a relationship. Who knows? There are moments I want to just crawl up in a ball and say, ‘I need support.’ It would be wonderful to come home and fall into somebody’s arms and say, ‘That was a tough day.’”

Aniston also spoke frankly about her dislike of social media, saying she only joined Instagram in order to launch her LolaVie haircare line.

“I hate social media. I’m not good at it,” she said despite the fact that Instagram crashed when she opened an account, as so many people tried to follow her.

“It’s torture for me,” she said. “The reason I went on Instagram was to launch this line…Then the pandemic hit and we didn’t launch. So I was just stuck with being on Instagram. It doesn’t come naturally.”

Jennifer Aniston and her Greek roots

The A-list celebrity, actress, and producer may have been born in the US, but Jennifer Aniston actually has deep Greek roots she frequently talks about in interviews.

The actress was actually named Joanna Anastasakis when she was born and changed her name later in life.

Aniston was born to Nancy Dow and John Aniston—originally named Yannis Anastasakis before changing his last name. Aniston was born in Chania, Crete in Greece and was most famous for playing a Greek character, Victor Kiriakis, on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives.

When Jennifer was a young girl, she got to experience Greece up close. Aniston lived in Athens and then Crete for a short while with her family when she was five years old. She is even connected to other famous Greeks, such as Telly Savalas, most famous for playing Kojak, who is her godfather.

Aniston has gone on record saying that her Greek heritage is part of the secret behind her ageless beauty. “My dad is 100 percent Greek; he turned 81 and he barely has a wrinkle. And neither does my grandmother, who was 95 when she died.”
