Russian state TV, controlled by President Vladimir Putin, has been threatening European countries with a nuclear holocaust for their support for Ukraine.
On Sunday, one of Russia’s top propagandists threatened Britain with annihilation by nuclear strike twice on his prime-time show—once by air and once by sea.
“Why threaten horizonless Russia with nuclear weapons when you sit on a small island?” Kremlin-allied Dmitry Kiselyov said during his Sunday program on Russian state TV in a segment he called “The Sinkable Island.”
“Just one launch, Boris,” Kiselyov said, referring to the British prime minister, “and England is gone. Once and for all. Why play with us?”
Britain threatened with nuclear holocaust on Russian TV
Kiselyov, a man often known as “Putin’s mouthpiece,” has said Russia can attack Britain with a Poseidon underwater drone that he said would trigger a 1,600 ft radioactive tidal wave and “plunge Britain to the depths of the ocean.”
The drone “has capacity for a warhead of up to 100 megatons,” Kiselyov claimed—several thousand times the strength of the bomb dropped on Hiroshima—which would “raise a giant wave, a tsunami, up to 1,640ft high.”
Speaking against a background graphic showing the UK being erased from the world map, Kiselyov added: “This tidal wave is also a carrier of extremely high doses of radiation. Surging over Britain, it will turn whatever is left of them into a radioactive desert, unusable for anything. How do you like this prospect?”
Kiselyov also threatened the UK with an attack by Sarmat 2, Russia’s latest nuclear missile which was tested by Putin a fortnight ago, which he claimed could also completely destroy the country with a single impact.
“[Their] island is so small that one Sarmat missile is enough to drown it once and for all,” he said. “[It] is capable of destroying an area the size of Texas or England. A single launch, Boris, and there is no England anymore.”
A nuclear strike would hit European capitals in around 200 seconds
Kiselyov’s remarks follow a pattern that has developed on Russian state media in recent days of threatening Britain and other European countries with nuclear holocaust, based on the false premise that Boris Johnson has threatened to carry out a nuclear strike on Russia without consulting NATO.
In another program, Russian state TV simulated a terrifying nuclear strike on Europe, declaring there would be “no survivors” in a TV rant in response to UK support for Ukraine.
Putin propagandists on TV recreated nuclear strikes on three European capitals, claiming the nukes would hit Paris, Berlin, and London in around 200 seconds.
The show then unveiled a map depicting how missiles could be launched from Kaliningrad, the Russian enclave between Poland, Lithuania, and the Baltic Sea.
It was claimed that Berlin could be destroyed by a nuclear strike in only 106 seconds, Paris in 200 seconds, and London in only 202 seconds.
In response to continued Western support for Ukraine, Putin recently ordered his military to test-fire its Sarmat missiles.
Only last week, Putin claimed that his country’s hypersonic missiles could “break through all modern defenses” and would be ready to lay siege to the UK “by autumn.”
This comes as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues well into its third month.
