Actress Kate Hudson’s most recent stop during her travels around Greece was in Nafplio, a seaside town in the Peloponnese, where she shared photos of her visit with her many social media followers.
Hudson has posted on Instagram about her love of the country before, and routinely visits Greece as her mother Goldie Hawn and her partner Kurt Russell own a home on the island of Skiathos. However, it seems that the post she made on Sunday marks the actress’ first time in Nafplio.
Kate Hudson vacations in Nafplio, Greece
Hudson and her family have been in Greece for more than a month. Her partner Danny Fujikawa and her children Rani Rose (two years old) and Bingham (nine years old) have been vacationing with Hudson since June.
It appears that her eldest child from her past marriage to Chris Robinson, Ryder Robinson, who is seventeen, has also recently chosen to join the family in Greece.
Hudson is one of many celebrities who choose to visit Greece often; however it seems that this year she has chosen to explore more of the country than ever before. Although her family owns a house on the island of Skiathos, she has opted to explore Nafplio, a smaller seaside town in the Peloponnese.
Posting from the tourist destination of the fortress at Palamidi, Kate Hudson captioned her Instagram post, “A Nafplio adventure #999steps #95 degrees 😅🤪🤸♀️.”
The photo’s description referenced both the 999 steps it takes to climb the 216-meter (709 foot) high hill that the fortress is atop of — and the high temperatures that Greece has been facing recently.
The castle of Nafplio, or Palamidi, was built over the course of three years and finished in 1714. It is an immense, well-maintained building that is probably the finest example of Venetian fortifications in the country.
Palamidi, with its typical Baroque style, sits on a hill bearing the same name. It offers obvious strategic advantages since the castle controls the city of Nafplion, as well as the port, the Fortress of Acronapflia and the entrance to the Gulf of Argolis. The Turks captured the fortress in 1715 and the Greeks reconquered it in 1822.
Another recent Instagram photo captured the celebrity alongside her partner and eldest child on a yacht, with a billowing Greek flag in the background. She chose to once again show her appreciation for the country, captioning the post “🇬🇷 we ❤️ U.”
The island of Skiathos: fun for the whole Hudson family
Hudson and her family frequent the island of Skiathos, having vacationed there during almost every summer in recent memory.
Hudson is not alone in frequenting Greece as a vacation spot — it was very likely her mother who inspired her love of the country!
Goldie Hawn, Hudson’s well-known mother, and her partner Kurt Russell have for years owned a vacation home on the island. The entire family often visits and stays in the house, making their love of Greece truly a “family affair”.
