Marina Tower at Hellinikon to Become the Tallest Building in Greece

The Marina Tower at Hellinikon, in the Athens Riviera, is going to be the tallest building in Greece when it is completed.

Lamda Development, the company behind the ambitious project, presented their plans for Greece’s first skyscraper on Wednesday.

The new building can be classified as a skyscraper at 45 floors. Those floors will contain 200 apartments, which will mostly consist of one to four bedroom units. Every unit is designed to have a balcony.

One of the selling points of the building is that it is being billed as a “green” building. The high rise, which will be the tallest “green” coastal skyscraper in the entirety of the Mediterranean region, boasts vertical gardens along its length as well as some of the newest environmentally-friendly features in architecture.

“A unique building for Greece and the world, an architectural landmark, with ‘green’ as its central axis, respect for the environment, and quality of life.

“At Hellinikon, we want to create a new global model of urban development, which will be the starting point of a new era for our country and for all Greeks “, said the CEO of Lamda Development, Odysseas Athanassiou .

The Marina Tower will offer residents unobstructed views of nearby mountains as well as the bright blue Greek sea. It will also feature a private pool and is in the perfect location for those who want to have access to the city and the convenience it offers without being right in the middle of constant hustle and bustle.

The design and research the tower is being built to conform to has also been endorsed by the internationally renowned architectural firm “Foster + Partners”.

Although the Marina Tower is the first skyscraper in Greece, its design and construction has been green-lit by international firms with a lot of experience constructing high rises.

“Marina Tower is a building that we aspire to find its place among corresponding top projects abroad, which have won architectural awards, recognition and have become points of reference and pride for their city”, continued the chief development officer of Lamda Development, for the skyscraper, Zisimos Danilatos.

“The master plan of Elliniko creates new models of urban development, combining new ways of living, working and entertainment, with a central element Metropolitan Park – an important destination for the local community and the city of Athens.

“Our proposal for the Marina Tower is based on basic principles of sustainable design, creating a model new development model and a new green landmark for the country,” said the head of the architecture team that designed the Marina Tower, Antoinette Nassopoulos-Erickson, senior partner and design team leader at Foster + Partners.
