Juventus star striker Alvaro Morata put a disappointing season at Italy’s Serie A behind and escaped to Santorini for a well-deserved break with wife Alice Campello.
Morata, a Spanish international, failed to spark Juventus who missed out on the Italian league title for the first time since 2012. They finished fourth in the league.
However, sorrows seem to be well behind as photos of the young couple suggest from their Santorini break.
A romantic dinner overlooking the famous caldera, breakfast at Fira and a swim in the infinitive pool of their luxury hotel overlooking Santorini, were some of the photos shared by Campello in her Instagram account.
The couple almost did not make it to Santorini, as Campello, who was enthusiastic about visiting Greece, forgot to fill in the necessary paperwork to fly over.
She realized her mistake too late when she and Morata tried to board a plane. They were turned back and they had to rebook on another flight in order fly to the Greek romantic island.
Morata faces an uncertain future at Juventus even though he would love to remain in Turin.
The Spaniard is in his second stint at the club and he has continued to impress, but he is only here on loan.
Juve has the chance to make the loan deal permanent or to extend it for another campaign for a fee.
Santorini not just for Morata and the rich
Morata and Campello can obviously afford the most luxurious of holidays, but Santorini is not just for the rich and famous.
Whether you want to stay in Fira, Oia, or a bit outside the main towns, there are indeed some affordable options.
Something to look for when searching for cheap hotels on Santorini are hotels with a 3-star rating. Even in peak summer season, hotels of this class remain relatively cheap, with prices per night at under €100 ($120).
An important consideration is location. Caldera views are highly valued on the island, and hotels which offer them are generally a lot more pricey. As a rule, hotels near Oia are also a bit more expensive, due to the areas reputation for being more up-scale.
This means that for travelers who prioritize being near a town on their trip to Santorini, it may be a better idea to stay near the capital, Fira. Another option is to keep away from both towns altogether!
Another option when planning a cheap visit to Santorini is to go camping! There are multiple organised campsites available, which will allow you to pitch a tent or stay in a caravan for as little as €30 ($36).
You can enjoy Santorini as much as much as Morata and Campello!
