Niagara Falls Will Glow in the Blue and White for Greek Bicentennial

The iconic Niagara Falls, the largest waterfall in North America, shared between the United States and Canada, will glow with the blue and white of the Greek flag to commemorate the Greek Bicentennial of the War of Independence on March 25.

The illumination of this wonder of nature, shared between the US and Canada, will take place on Thursday, March 25, from 9:45-10:00 pm EST. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the official Niagara Falls website (no password required).

Greek bicentennial will be honored around the world on March 25

Scores of landmarks all around the globe will be illuminated in the blue and white on March 25, with many cities also raising the Greek flag on that day or during an entire week as a way to honor the Greek War of Independence.

Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada is open for viewing the Falls for those who will be able to get there to view the sight firsthand on the Greek bicentennial day. Safe social distancing practices are required. All face to face attractions remain closed at this time, but fortunately, hotels are open.

Prospect Point and Goat Island at Niagara Falls State Park in Niagara Falls USA are open to visitors for viewing the Falls. Safe social distancing practices are required and area hotels are open. Restaurants are open for sit down or take-out service.

The Cave of the Winds is open from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm daily with timed ticketing when necessary. You can find daily updates on the park’s official Facebook page.

The Nightly Illumination of the Falls will be displayed every evening for 2021. Fireworks have been postponed. You can view an up to date list of the current status of all area attractions and opening dates here.
