Greece is in the Water Polo World League Super Final after notching a 12-7 win against Montenegro on Sunday.
It will get to the finals along with Montenegro and Italy  after they finished at the top of the standings in the European qualifying league this week.
Water polo coach Thodoris Vlachos commented after the relatively easy match: “We achieved a victory against one of the best teams in the world in recent years, but we just won a qualification to the final phase and not a medal.”
He went on, saying “I remind my players to keep their heads down, pay attention and keep that tremendous desire for team play, as we did today, in order to achieve what we dream of.”

“We were ready and motivated”

“It was a great game from the team, especially our defense did really well; that made our job easy. We were ready and motivated during this tournament which was a great way to practice and prepare for the Olympic qualification. I hope we will be able to play like this or even better as all of us dream on Tokyo,” said the most valuable player of the game, Christodoulos Kolomvos.
The Men’s Water Polo World League had just resumed competition after a ten-month break because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The tournament took place in Debrecen, the capital of Hungary’s Northern Great Plain region, from January 8-10. The world Super Finals will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana from April 26 to May 2, 2021.
The final rankings are as follows:
1.Greece
2. Montenegro
3.Italy
4. Spain
5. Serbia
6. Hungary
7. Croatia
8. France
