The animated film “Cryptozoo” will premiere at the virtual 2021 Sundance Film Festival. The cast includes Greek-American actresses Angeliki Papoulia and Zoe Kazan.

“Cryptozoo” will have its world premiere under Sundance’s NEXT category, which seeks to show the most forward-thinking, innovative films of the year.

The movie follows a group of cryptozookeepers, people who work with mythical creatures, as they try to capture the legendary Baku. As they get closer to their goal, they experience a moral struggle. Should they keep such incredible creatures in captivity, or unknown and in the wild?

Other members of the cast include Michael Cera, Peter Stormare, and Lake Bell.

Papoulia is a Greek actress and theater director who rose to prominence via Lanthimos’ films, especially “Dogtooth” and “The Lobster”. Kazan, the granddaughter of Elia Kazan, is an indie darling in Hollywood and proud of her Greek heritage.

Kazan most recently appeared in HBO’s “The Plot Against America”.
