Moderate Earthquake, 4.9 Richter, Hits Crete

A moderate earthquake, measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale rocked the island of Crete on Thursday afternoon.

The quake’s epicenter is thought to be located under the sea 50 kilometers (just over 30 miles) north of the coastal town of Sitia, Crete.

Earlier in the morning, an earthquake measuring 4 on the Richter scale hit near the city of Chania on Crete.

No damage has been reported, and experts have stated that there is no cause for concern.
