Intubations, Deaths Remain High in Greece Despite Lockdown

After over a month of a national coronavirus lockdown in the country, the number of intubations and deaths with the virus still remains high in Greece.

On Wednesday, 95 people with the coronavirus passed away, and there are currently 578 intubated patients in hospitals around the country.

A total of 1,677 new cases were diagnosed in the past day, ten of which were found during routine testing at Greece’s points of entry.

In total, 119,720 cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic, including all those who have recovered from the virus.

Of this total, 5,038 are associated with foreign travel, and 33,160 are associated with contact with a known case.

Of the 578 patients intubated currently, 75.8% are over the age of 70 or suffer from preexisting conditions. Their median age is 66, and 172 of the patients are female.

A total of 691 patients have been discharged from ICUs around the country.

The 95 new deaths recorded on Wednesday bring the total number of fatalities in the country to 3,289.

Of all those who lost their lives after suffering from the virus, a total of 1,312 have been female.

The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 is 79, and 96.2% of them were over the age of 70 or suffered from underlying health issues.
