The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, an architectural marvel in Athens, has been beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, bringing some much-needed holiday cheer to a nation still under lockdown.
The stunning decorations were revealed by Greek singer Fivos Delivorias and his band on Tuesday, December 1, while they gave a concert that was live streamed for viewers at home.
The SNFCC, a public space where visitors can partake in cultural, educational, and athletic activities, is known for its breathtaking decorations and engaging events during the holiday season.
Glimmering Christmas lights hung in trees surrounding the cultural center’s iconic fountain illuminate the grounds and transform the SNFCC into a winter dreamland.
Artsy touches, including large round orbs featuring projections of winter scenes and abstract light sculptures, were also set up for the holiday season, adding a unique flair to the grounds of the cultural center.
A very small number of Greek citizens, all wearing masks and keeping the appropriate distance from one another, visited the SNFCC to get some exercise and be transported into a winter wonderland by the cultural center’s impressive Christmastime makeover, which will last until early January.
The Stavros Niarchos Foundation is also putting on a series of virtual events during the holiday season for those at home, including readings of Christmas stories, lectures, book clubs, and concerts.
