The finals of the 6th annual “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition took place in Guangzhou, China on Tuesday. College students from 4,186 colleges in 117 countries around the world took place in the innovative competition.
Project entries can relate to a wide variety of topics, including energy, climate change, health care, agriculture, technology, and fighting poverty, as long as they cover a pressing issue in society.
The competition, hosted by China’s Ministry of Education, provides students from China and around the world a stage to present their innovative and creative solutions to international issues. Students can submit completed projects, research findings, or even concepts for companies or businesses at the competition.
This year, over 1.5 million projects were submitted for the competition, and 111 international teams made it to the final round. There were 49 European teams, along with 23 teams from Asia, 21 from the U.S., 13 from Africa, and 5 from Oceania in the competitive final round.
Due to the coronavirus, a large number of teams were unable to attend to competition, but they presented their entries virtually through the internet.
The diversity of the competition made for quite an interesting spread of projects, including one from the University of Oxford that involved artificial intelligence and the creation of robots. The team entered their “RoboX Operating System” to the competition, an innovative project that involves a mobile robot control system.
The “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs to get their start.
Projects and companies that have been presented at the competitions since 2015 are shown to have an extremely high success rates after the conclusion of the competition.
Studies of companies established after each years’ competition since 2015 have shown that nearly 90% of them were founded in the first year following the competition.
