Dozens of Homes Flooded After Heavy Downpours Hit Crete

The Fire Service in northern Crete responded to dozens of calls for help on Tuesday as many homes became flooded from the heavy downpours that the region experienced.
Most of the flooding occurred in and around Hersonissos, and firefighters are pumping water out of dozens of homes and businesses.

The Athens-Macedonian News Agency (AMNA) reported that municipal services have also been dispatched to help rescue people trapped in flooded basements and in vehicles, particularly around river tributaries and stream beds which topped their banks due to the morning storms.
