On Thursday, the UK took the Greek island of Crete off its list of areas from which returning British travelers must isolate.
According to the UK government’s website gov.uk, as of 4 AM, Sunday October 18, those returning from Crete will be added to the list at 4am, will not have to be placed into isolation.
The move follows rulings set forth a little more than a week ago, in which British travelers arriving in England from the islands of Lesvos, Santorini, Serifos, Tinos or Zakynthos after 4am 10 October 2020 would lao no longer need to self-isolate.

The welcome news follows an earlier release of a new map by the European Center for Disease Control, showing the different rates of positive coronavirus cases in each country, how much each country is testing and the relative risk of traveling to each country using color coding.

In this very positive development, Greece is portrayed as partially green, in contrast to many other European countries, which are shown in amber or red. The maps will be produced by the ECDC on an ongoing basis in an effort to simplify the understanding of the relative strength of the virus in each country and the safety of traveling to each nation.
All information portrayed on the new maps is from the most current epidemiological data.
The three Schengen area countries of Greece, Norway and Finland, along with Italy’s Calabria region, are shown as partially green, indicating that the total number of recently-diagnosed coronavirus cases is fewer than 25 per 100,000 residents in the last two weeks.
Additionally, the map also shows that the percentage of positive coronavirus tests conducted in these green areas was less than 4%.
