The tourism giant Thomas Cook, reorganized after its bankruptcy and now owned by Fosun Tourism, a subsidiary of the Fosun Group, owned by Chinese billionaire Guo Guangchang, says that Greece still tops their list when it comes to destination tourism.
Currently, the firm says that, despite the many disruptions of traveling in coronavirus times, Greece is still the favored destination of its customers.
Alan French, the new Thomas Cook affirmed to interviewers from the Athens-Macedonian News Agency that “Greece is currently the destination with the highest sales for our company.”
He invited all Greek hoteliers and tourism companies to work with Thomas Cook once again, as they had before the company was forced to declare bankruptcy after serving as the premier UK-based tourism agency for decades.
No longer owing money to its creditors, the firm started up again several weeks ago, doing business exclusively online.
Travelers can plan their own trips and activities themselves but Thomas Cook will be offering additional services, including travel insurance, airport parking, car rental and other transportation, in the future.
The Fosun Group acquired the venerable British travel agency and all its online services in November of 2019. The business, based in Shanghai, is responsible for 100 billion euros of assets scattered all over the world. It has recently shown an interest in Greece in particular,   especially in the company Ethniki Asfalistiki.
