On Wednesday, Greece recorded 358 new cases of the coronavirus — which was a slight increase over yesterday’s 346 cases — and five new deaths in the country.
Of these most recently-diagnosed cases, 56 can be traced to known outbreaks, and 43 were found during routine testing of travelers at Greece’s points of entry.
This brings the total number of cases in the country to 16,286. Just over half, 55.8%, of the victims are male. The number of cases linked to travel outside of Greece have now reached 2,696, while those related to contact with a known case total 6,808.
Currently, 73 patients with Covid-19 are intubated in intensive care units around Greece, just 20 of whom are women.
The median age of these patients is 68, and 89.90% of them are over the age of 70 or have underlying health problems.
The five deaths announced on Wednesday bring the total number of people who have lost their lives with the virus in Greece to 357, 132 of whom were women.
The median age of those who passed away with Covid-19 in Greece is 78, and the vast majority of them, 96.9%, were over the age of 70 or had underlying health issues.
