Coronavirus: 310 New Cases on Tuesday, Three Deaths, 67 Patients Intubated

In the last 24 hours, Greece recorded 310 new cases of Covid-19 and three deaths associated with the virus.
This is a sharp increase from Monday’s total of 180 cases. This brings Greece’s total number of cases to 13,730 since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
The median age of all victims of the virus is 78, and over 96% of them had underlying health problems in addition to the coronavirus.
Of Tuesday’s cases, only 30 were linked to confirmed outbreaks, and twelve were discovered through testing at Greece’s borders.
The Attica region has the highest number of new cases, with 197 confirmed in the area on Tuesday. On the island of Lesvos, where refugees are displaced from last week’s fires in Moria, there were 15 confirmed cases, all of which were linked to migrants from the destroyed camp.
Just over half (55.4%) of the country’s cases have occurred in men, yet they make up approximately 63% of deaths with the virus.
Men also make up the majority of patients intubated in Greek hospitals, as just 17 of the 67 patients who are currently intubated are women. The median age of intubated patients is 70, and around 88% of them suffer from underlying health problems. Yesterday’s total of intubated patients was 59, showing an increase of eight patients over just 24 hours.
Despite the older median age of patients being treated by intubation, younger people can still be affected. According to Greek news outlets, a 14-year-old girl from the northern Athenian suburb of Kifissia, where there has been a high number of cases, is currently among the intubated patients in Athens’ hospitals.
Yesterday, it was disclosed that a 28-year-old man who does not have any underlying conditions had also been intubated.
