Coronavirus: Record Number of 284 Cases in Greece, 2 Deaths – Emergency Measures on Lesvos

Greece recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases on Sunday with 284 new infections and two deaths, raising the number of fatalities to 242.
According to the National Health Organization (EODY), of the 284 new cases, 17 were detected at the country’s gateways. The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 8,664, of which 55.2 percent are men.
One-half of the new cases were detected in Attica (141) and 11 in Thessaloniki.
The average age of patients who have died of Covid-19 is 77 years. Currently, there are 31 patients in ICU.
Emergency measures on Lesvos
Authorities have decided to implement emergency precaution measures on Lesvos in order to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
Specifically, restaurants, bars, and cafes will be closed from midnight until 7 am.
A maximum of 50 people are allowed at all public and social events, except those to which special rules apply, such as in restaurants, theaters, and cinemas.
The measures will apply from Monday until September 1st.
