Greek authorities have closed down a popular bar and restaurant after detecting a total of seven active cases of the coronavirus in employees of the establishment, according to a recent report from the Greek broadcaster Skai.
The seaside bar and restaurant called “Alemagou,” which is located on the northern coast of the island, has now been sealed off by the authorities in the middle of an already-difficult tourist season which has seen tourist revenues plummet.
All the employees of the restaurant and bar were tested after one had tested positive for the virus on Wednesday. According Skai, the employees were “symptomatic,” but there was no further information available on exactly what symptoms the victims were exhibiting.
Greece’s National Public Health Organization, EODY, conducted tests on all 80 employees of the restaurant and bar as a precautionary measure. All of these individuals were told to self-isolate in their homes even if their initial tests were negative for the virus, out of an abundance of caution.
According to Skai, all of them, including all those who tested negative, will undergo another coronavirus test in the near future.
