As Greece Opens to Tourism Mykonos Is Back!

The word Mykonos has a magic appeal to the ears: Once heard, the mind floods with images of long, sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, idyllic sunsets, picturesque white houses, people dancing under the stars and a parade of international jet-setters.
In recent years, Mykonos has become one of the world’s most desirable travel destinations. It combines the natural beauty of Greece’s Cyclades Islands along with a vibrant party scene that battles for dominance with Ibiza.

More and more Hollywood stars are declaring Mykonos as their favorite vacation destination. From Leonardo DiCaprio to Matthew McConaughey, several movie stars have become enamored with the jewel of the Cyclades in recent years. Mykonos truly does have everything for everyone: Fine dining, elegant shopping, serious partying, relaxing on a majestic beach, unique architecture — and yes, we have to admit, that “see and be seen” element as well. Beaches
There are 25 beaches on Mykonos, ranging from those with golden sand and azure waters to pebbled, cozy little coves.
Psarou beach is where the rich and famous from all over the world gather every summer to enjoy the luxurious beach amenities, dine at the fine seaside restaurants and attend exclusive music shows.
Elia beach has the longest stretches of sand, and is popular with families, while Platys Gialos and Kalafatis are great for water sports.
Panormos and Agios Sostis beaches are more quiet and are ideal for sunbathing and letting your mind take a break from the fast pace of everyday life. Ornos and Agios Ioannis beaches in the southwest of the island are also quiet and family-oriented, complete with the traditional fish tavernas you would expect along the Greek shoreline.

Nightlife
Chora is Mykonos’ downtown; Matogianni Street in Chora is the island’s main shopping street, and it is always swarming with people. Shops selling fine jewelry and high fashion abound and they are open until late at night. On Matogianni you will also find cozy cafés, cool bars and fine restaurants.
Later in the night, the party begins — and it continues well into the morning hours. For most, though, the party begins in the afternoon at a beach bar, sipping cocktails and moving to the music while watching the sunset, and continues through the night.
In most beach bars the music never stops. Top international and Greek DJs play to thousands of people at Paraga, Psarou, Paradise and Super Paradise beaches and the dancing stops only when the sun makes it impossible to continue.

Theoxenia Hotel 
Philoxenia (Φιλοξενία), the Greek word for hospitality, is not a word that Greeks take lightly, and Hotel Theoxenia on Mykonos is definitely no exception. the owners believe in this principle so strongly that the hotel took its name from an ancient Greek feast in which Apollo hosted all the Olympian gods.
The renovated Theoxenia in Chora will open its doors on July 15, promising to treat its guests with the utmost care, just like its name suggests.
Theoxenia is the oldest luxury hotel on Mykonos. Built in the early 1960s as “Xenia,” it soon became the hotel of choice for the international jet set. which had by then discovered the plentiful natural beauties of the island. It was the favorite hotel of Aristotle and Jackie Onassis.

Designed by famed Greek architect Aris Konstantinidis (1913-1993), who had also designed several Xenia hotels in key tourist destinations in Greece, it was recently renovated, offering the latest in luxury accommodations and appointments.
However, renowned interior designer Angelos Angelopoulos kept the 1960s character of the hotel, and the unique atmosphere of that era and its Pop Art décor takes guests back in time — but without losing any of the comforts and luxuries of today.
