Sixty New Cases of Covid-19 in Greece; Two-Thirds at Border Gates

According to the National Public Health Organization, 60 new cases of coronavirus have been recently identified by health officials, bringing the country’s total to 3,732, including all those who have survived.
The information comes just after Greece’s announcement of tightening health and safety protocols along the northern border in Promachonas, which serves as a the gateway to the country of Bulgaria, after an outbreak was observed within the province itself.
Of the 60 new cases discovered, 40 of them have been confirmed to have been imported during the regular, mandated checks carried out at the various entrance gates of the country.
Concerning the remaining cases, two were imported after the subjects had volunteered to be inspected; one additional victim was from Kozani, one from Attica, eight throughout the region of Thessaloniki, one from Imathia and a single case was discovered in Xanthi.
No new deaths have been reported in regard to the recent spikes in cases. The rise in cases amounting to 1.6 percent over the last day is an increase from the previous count of national cases. The overall total leaves the country’s total fatalities at 193 since the outbreak began.
In the midst of the pandemic, Greece’s government had reaffirmed that the country plans on making sure that safety and health protocols are strictly enforced in order to protect both its citizens and visitors.
According to government spokesperson Stelios Petsas, the country is quite ready to reimpose coronavirus restrictions in Greece depending on the behavior officials observe.
