John Stamos Hosts Socially Distanced ‘A Capital Fourth’ For PBS

This July 4, John Stamos and Vanessa Williams will be hosting a different kind of Independence Day celebration for the 40th anniversary of “A Capitol Fourth” on PBS.

Stamos and Williams both shot their performances remotely, and fireworks will be added to the show as they shoot up from the city on the evening of July 4.

As Williams told ABC, “John Stamos and I shot across the street, so the Capitol was behind us, but we were on the top. We socially distanced”.

Williams also emphasized that with the social upheavals recently happening across the nation, she wanted to address what was going on. So for her two singing performances, she chose “Not While I’m Around”, dedicated to all the mothers, and “Somewhere” from “West Side Story”. As she said, the song “Somewhere”, “addresses the heartache. It addresses the issue. And it also addresses the message of hope and unity, which we’re all feeling now.”

“A Capitol Fourth” will air at 8 PM EST on July 4 on PBS.
