According to a survey published on Tuesday, demand for travel to Greece from major tourism markets is much stronger than other polls have shown so far this Spring.
The survey, titled “Behaviours and Intentions for Outbound Leisure Travel During the Covid-19 Era,” was conducted by tourism marketing agency Mindhaus, in partnership with Pollfish, a DIY research tool. The data collected shows that two out of three potential travelers in large markets which typically send huge numbers of travelers abroad each year are ready to go on vacation now.
The survey probed and analyzed behaviors and intentions for international leisure travel in a sample of 2,750 respondents from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France and Italy.
Although most respondents maintain that the discovery and availability of a coronavirus vaccine would be the key to travel freedom this year, they still say they want to go on vacation more than ever.
Almost 38 percent of respondents stated that they would be willing to travel again just as soon as travel bans are lifted, and will consider their options while keeping a close watch on the ever-increasing updates on reopening across the world.
An additional, very promising 28 percent of survey respondents even stated that they would be willing to book the leisure trip they had been dreaming about all this time.

Although for all respondents finding a vaccine was the number one factor for starting up international leisure travel again, this specific group — 66 percent of all respondents — considers clear health and safety protocols during transport, destinations where Covid-19 had little impact and pre-flight Covid-19 tests equally important.
They considered safety, relaxation/ease of mind and having fun during their next vacations much more important than the previous year — and, importantly, more than affordability. They also value “discovery” (French) and “adventure” (US) for their next international trip more than in previous years.
According to the research and for the same of group of respondents, the French (55 percent), British (55 percent) and Germans (62 percent) are more ready to resume outbound travel, stating that they would be willing to take an international leisure trip during 2020.
“Although the situation looks dim for the next three months, we understand that 2 out 3 people are really eager to travel internationally as soon as travel restrictions are lifted and will not wait for a vaccine to be developed. We see also that travelers want a safe, relaxing but also fun and adventurous experience much more than before,” said Theofilos Kyratsoulis, the general manager of Mindhaus.
“We know how important data is for businesses during COVID-19, especially for hard-hit industries like travel and tourism,” added John Papadakis, CEO of Pollfish. “As a leading research tool, we’re glad to be able to offer the insights to help them get back on track.”
