Low Cost Airline Announces Plans to Resume Flights to Greece

Low cost airline Wizz Air announced this week plans to resume flights to Greece despite the current coronavirus restrictions on travel.
The airline has said it will restart vacation flights from Luton airport in the UK to Greece in July in the hope that Covid-19 travel restrictions will be lifted by that time. It will also fly to Portugal in mid-June.
Announcing the five new routes, the low-cost airline said that beginning on June 16, flights would depart from the London airport to Faro in Portugal, with prices starting at £25.99, and would depart for Corfu, Heraklion, Rhodes and Zakynthos, Greece beginning at the start of July.
Wizz Air has introduced new rules, including compulsory face masks for passengers and staff, as well as gloves for crews, to make people feel more confident about flying.
It will also give sanitizing wipes to travelers and and no longer provide magazines. The airline says it encourages travelers to observe physical distancing at the airport but it will fill middle seats on aircrafts if there is enough demand.
EasyJet has published its flight schedule for summer 2021 earlier than usual, with destinations including Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Turkey and Spain.
All flights are currently suspended due to the coronavirus, with no official date as to when they will resume, although EasyJet has said restarting their schedule won’t even be considered until after May.
EasyJet has stated that it also will not be selling any tickets for flights before May 18, and will be relying on the latest travel advice from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) to inform them on the appropriate date to restart operations.
In an email sent to customers, EasyJet CEO Johan Lundgren said, “Since we grounded our fleet a few weeks ago, almost all of Europe has been in lockdown.
“And whilst it gives us all encouragement that some countries are coming out the other side, there is still a great deal of uncertainty about when Europe will start opening up again.”
