Greece’s Civil Aviation Authority announced on Holy Wednesday that the travel ban to and from six European destinations will continue to be in effect until May 15 at the very least.
”For the purpose of preventing the spread of COVID-19, the Civil Aviation Authority announces the extension of the temporary ban on flights from Italy, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany to Greece and vice versa,” today’s announcement read. An exception for some flights from Germany only to Athens airport applies.
The travel ban to these countries excludes humanitarian, and cargo flights including those containing hygiene products.
Additionally, all emergency and military flights will be allowed as well as all transportation of FRONTEX personnel. Turkey is excluded from the military aspect of this exception.
In addition, Greece extended the ban prohibiting all non-EU nationals from entering into the country, upholding the measure that had been taken earlier, following instructions from Brussels.
