Almost 1,300 Migrants Arrived on Northern Aegean Islands in March

A dinghy with 39 migrants and refugees from Afghanistan and Africa arrived early Wednesday along the coast of Kleio on northern Lesvos.
The migrants/refugees were sent to a small church outside the village where they will remain for at least 14 days, as part of the measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus.
After the end of the quarantine, they will be transferred to an enclosed facility on the mainland, since it has already been decreed that they are not entitled to apply for asylum under recent Greek legislation.
According to the northern Aegean police, a total of 1,280 migrants and refugees arrived on the northern Aegean islands in March, of which 851 landed on the shores of Lesvos, 415 on Chios and 216 on Samos.
