Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson just announced that they both tested positive for COVID-19, more widely known as coronavirus.

The coronavirus pandemic has been sweeping the globe and in the past few weeks, has entered the US, leading President Trump to declare a state of emergency on March 11 and restrict travel from Europe.

Hanks and Wilson are both down in Australia, where the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley film, which Hanks stars in as Elvis’ manager, is taking place.

On his Instagram, Hanks posted a picture of surgical gloves in a trashcan and the following caption:

“Hello, folks. Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired, like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive.

Well, now. What to do next? The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hankses will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as public health and safety requires. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?

We’ll keep the world posted and updated.

Take care of yourselves!
Hanx!”

Though Wilson and Hanks, by their own words, appear to have relatively mild symptoms at the moment, we wish them a full and speedy recovery.

For general guidelines and updated information regarding COVID-19, please stay up to date with the World Health Organization.
