Austrian Leader ''Grateful'' for Greece's Efforts to Protect European Borders

The Greek and the Austrian leaders in Vienna on Tuesday.

Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said from Vienna on Tuesday that he is grateful for the Greek government’s continued efforts to protect the European border.
The remarks were made during the joint press conference given by Kurz and Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the Austrian capital, following a meeting between delegations of the two nations.
Earlier in the day it had been announced that Austria would be sending group of its own policemen to the Evros border to help in EU border patrol efforts there.
”Mr. Erdogan abuses refugees, and immigrants who have been living in Turkey for years; he exploits them and uses them as a weapon against the EU,” the Austrian leader emphatically declared during his remarks.
Kurz also thanked the Greek government for its efforts to bring the nation’s economy back on track, adding that Greece has accomplished a great deal in that area and reached a very level of economic strength.
On his behalf, Premier Mitsotakis said that the Greek people acknowledge Austria’s support for Greece’s efforts to safeguard the EU border adding that that he desires the current tensions to deescalate.
