Italy Quarantines 16 Million People in Extraordinary Coronavirus Move

The Italian authorities announced on Sunday morning that more than sixteen million people will be quarantined in a total of fifteen provinces of the country, in order to limit the spread of the Covid19 coronavirus.

Among the regions affected by the governmental decision are two of Italy’s most famous and popular destinations, the cities of Milan and Venice.

This extraordinary emergency measure will last until April 3.

Additionally, the Italian authorities have taken other draconian nationwide measures, including the closure of schools, universities, museums, night clubs, and other public gathering places.

The number of confirmed, diagnosed cases in Italy is approximately 6,000 with the country’s death toll being well above 200 at present.

At press time, approximately 107,000 individuals worldwide have been diagnosed with the Covid19 coronavirus, while 3,600 people have already succumbed to the virus.
