Italy Closes All Schools, Death Toll Rises to 107

The Italian government announced on Wednesday afternoon, after hours of speculation, that all schools across the country will remain closed until March 15, beginning on Thursday.

”For the government, it was not a simple decision,” Italian Education Minister Lucia Azzolina stated on Wednesday.

The Italian government also announced measures to enable at least one parent to be let out of work in order to take care of their children, who will be at home all those days.

Meanwhile, the situation in the Mediterranean nation continues to worsen, as 443 new cases were diagnosed on Wednesday alone, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in Italy to 2,706.

Unfortunately, a total of 107 people have already succumbed to the Covid-19 coronavirus in Italy, as a result of Europe’s first major outbreak of the virus.
