Greek authorities announced on Thursday that a woman who is hospitalized in an Athens hospital has been diagnosed as infected with coronavirus.
It is the first such case in the Greek capital. Reports say that the patient had recently traveled to Italy.
Authorities are trying to trace the fellow passengers of the woman who flew from Italy to Greece, ANT1 TV reported, adding that her family is also to be alerted.
No further information was released by health authorities.
Two people, a mother and her child, have already been diagnosed as carrying the disease in Thessaloniki.
Following the confirmation of these coronavirus cases, authorities announced that all Carnival festivities relating to the annual Apokries celebration have now been canceled.
